Images are an essential part of your hero section.
In some cases, it makes sense to have a website without visuals above the fold, but it mostly doesn’t.
Some companies have lots of visual material they can showcase. Others have none and need to be more creative.
That’s why we see things like:
- Stock photos (Freshbooks – Spendesk)
- GIFS (Wynter – Apollo.io)
- Drawings (Finflag – Payment Cloud)
- Drawings in the background (Easyvest – Lemonade)
- Videos in the background (FranShares – Intergiro)
- Demo video in the background (Robovision)
- Video in a box (Soar Payments)
- Screenshots (Stripe – Divvy)
- Product preview (Rock.estate – gohenry)
And then, of course, there are all sorts of mixes but it usually comes down to a combination of stock photos with screenshots, icons or product previews.
Yet there is one more combination that I’m seeing more and more. And it’s by far my favourite…
Images that turn into videos.
Here are four examples:
- Qashio
- Voucherify
- Vivid
- Chili Piper
